May 8 to 13, 2012 - waitlist only

Located on the island of Oahu, Honolulu is a cultural hub, rich in art, architecture, history, and fine dining. Discover another side of Hawaii's capital on this small-group SBMA-exclusive tour. Step into the homes of art collectors, the studios of artists, and a house designed by one of Hawaii's most prominent architects. Hear directly from the experts at the Contemporary Museum-Spalding House, the Honolulu Academy of Arts, and the Bishop Museum. Meet the Director of the Bishop Museum and share meals with the new Director at the Honolulu Academy of Arts and a former Director at both the Honolulu Academy of Arts and the Santa Barbara Museum of Art. Preview the triennial Garden Club of Honolulu Flower and Horticulture Show on a private tour before the public opening and by attending an optional Preview Party. During a private reception at a leading gallery, discuss the art of Hawaii with the owner. Explore Shangri La, Doris Duke's former home, built for her extensive Islamic Art collection and visit the former mansions and palaces of Hawaiian Royalty.

$2,320 per person double occupancy.

This will be a small-group tour with special visits, private tours, and meetings with curators and directors. Please contact (805) 884-6436 or travel@sbma.net to be put on the waitlist.
